Located only 200 yards from Old Faithful Geyser is the site of the news Old Faithful Visitor Education Center. Expected to open to the public in Autumn 2010, the new visitor education center will be larger and contain larger exhibit and education space than its predecessor. Designed to be compatible with the architectural style of the Old Faithful Historic District, the new center will be better equipped to handle the nearly 2.6 million visitors to Old Faithful each year. Exhibits will include pieces on the ecology and geology of Hot Springs and Geysers, showcase of scientific research into the region, and educational outreach and "citizen science" programs. There will also be a theater and bookstore in the new visitor eduction center.
